A great spot for viewing the first sunrise of the year over the Boso Peninsula
The summit, at an altitude of 929m, offers a spectacular view of the Boso Peninsula, the skyscrapers of Shinjuku, and even Eno-shima Island.
The view of the first sunrise as it gradually emerges from behind the mountain range is divine.
Musashi Ontake Shrine is located near the top of the mountain and is famous for its worship of Oinu-sama.
Legend has it that when the Japanese god Takemikoto was on his expedition to the east, he lost his way in the deep mist released by the evil god of the mountains, but he was guided by a white wolf and escaped from the disaster.
