Japan’s First Forest Therapy Road
Therapy roads are roads that have been proven to have healing effects through physiological and psychological experiments and are certified as suitable for forest therapy.
The Okutama Forest Therapy Center has the “Fragrance Road, Noborikei Trail,” Japan’s first forest therapy course designed exclusively for forest therapy, as well as the “Okutama Lake Ikoi no Michi,” a flat course along the lakeside, the “Hatonosu Valley Walkway,” a course along the valley, the “Okutama Mukashi Michi” old highway, and the “Hyakuhiro No Taki Exploration Path” using an ordinary trail. There are a total of five courses: the “Hatonosu Valley Walkway,” a course along the valley, the “Okutama Mukashi Road,” an old highway, and the “Hyakunohinotaki Exploration Path,” which uses an ordinary trail.
There is a wide variety of courses, ranging from easy and enjoyable road courses to full-scale courses. These courses are designed to refresh both body and soul while healing you with the nature of Okutama, which has been selected as one of the 100 most beautiful water sources in Japan due to the beauty of its forests and valleys.
